Britain to pay £1.7bn more to EU due 1st Dec
Surely this is a point of no return now for Cameron? He can use this as an excuse to bring forward the in / out referendum to 2015 and neuter the UKIP vote.

We already pay £8.5bn a year so bringing it forward two years saves us £17bn if we leave, so double bonus.

Will be interesting to see whether we pay or not, and the consequences if we say no.

Well wonder what 8 excuse will be if its paid

We know Libs and Labour will pay up , especially after Blair gave up many of the get out payment clauses we had

time for Cameron to make up he's mind

It's appalling. Cameron should do everything possible to fight this.

If this went through then I'd be voting out in any referendum. I'll still vote conservative as it's the only way to actually get a referendum but for me this would be the final straw.

We still have a deficit, we have debt to pay for. It is obscene for the eu to demand more money. It should take a cut like everyone else.

Our governments cutting public spending and boosting employment. I do not see why the British people should be penalised by the eu for working hard, for creating jobs and for having the courage to accept that cuts need to be paid.

Also what planet is the eu commission on? We have one foot in the exit door and now they decide to hit us with more money. Where do they think the money's coming from? The magic money tree in the back garden? Or the elves?

And why should France get a rebate? Why is it our fault that France followed socialist economic policy and reaped the benefits of higher unemployment and a faltering economy?

I read a poll yesterday that said 56 per cent of Britons want to stay in the glorious European Union. I wonder what that poll will say after this news. As the saying goes 'they just don't get it'.

Exactly valley. The benefits we have are going to be outweighed if the eu thinks it can just come to us like a credit junkie goes to wonga or the bank of mum and dad.

They can fuck right off.

What really gets me is the complete and utter cheek of effectively charging us more because we weren't stupid enough to sign up to their shitty euro and had the foresight in 2010 to begin deficit reduction.

I see the Rochester & Strood by-election is on Nov 20 so the timing is a gift for UKIP.

We should ask through the European media a question of the French.

Would you cunts pay it?

The money saved due to the many sacrifices made by Nurses, Teachers and the likes now goes to the EU. Wow that's going to go down like a ton of shit. Cameron has to say no

What makes this galling is under this review of countries' economic performances, the French and Germans get a rebate.

Let's get OUT of this European madhouse.

Re: Britain to pay £1.7bn more to EU due 1st Dec
The whole thing is a total, utter nonsense and is simply going to make more people want to leave the eu.

They'd soon be bloody sorry if we left and suddenly they've lost one of their largest economies.

Bloody leeches.

Cameron has to say no and refuse to pay it. What are they going to do? Invade? Kick us out?

Valley Hammer 9:16 Fri Oct 24
Re: Britain to pay £1.7bn more to EU due 1st Dec
Cameron will stamp his foot, look and sound exasperated and persuade the eurocrats to put it off for a while. Then, as good Europeans we will pay up.
We all know the only way to stop paying into this bottomless pit is to get OUT, OUT, OUT!

Re: Britain to pay £1.7bn more to EU due 1st Dec
Money is due on 1st December. Cameron is going to tell them to get stuffed and refuse to pay it until after the by-election. As soon as that is over he will quietly pay the amount because he hasn't got a back bone.

It's a disgrace! That 1,7 bn could go towards further tax cuts for the rich.

Valley and barking.

I think you're underestimating the mood in the party.

Cameron I believe won't pay the bill. We don't have the money. We've promised tax cuts. We've promised to protect the NHS. We are hardly going to start cutting the health service to pay for this.

And even if Cameron was stupid enough to pay for it, the party won't.

This will make Maastricht look like a picnic if the government ends up paying and Cameron will face a leadership contest and will lose.

It's that's serious. There's only so much the party will take and people are fuming at the eu commissions comments in immigration this week while France seems to be able to propose restrictions and not get condemned.

Simply put. We pay. Ukip win Rochester. There will be more defections too and Cameron will be out by Christmas.

He's not that stupid.

I hear he is practising his 'jolly angry' face in front of the no.10 mirror just now and is even prepared to accuse the EU of being 'beastly'.
Before bending over & paying up

Sven if he pays, which he won't he will face a leadership contest.

The Conservative party has a short fuse when it comes to the eu and particularly when it comes to requests for more money to spend on wasteful socialist projects.

There is not a cats in bells chance of Cameron being able to bend over.

Bruno we can tell them no. What are they going to do? Fine us? Fine we don't pay the fine. Then what? Send us an angry letter?

Can you really imagine the eu threatening to kick us out if we don't pay? The reaction of the voters would be " fine. Stuff you"

I'll believe all that when I see it A8. We've seen and heard it all before. That is why UKIP are doing so well. People are saying 'enough is enough.
